Swirl and scratch removal

Paint Correction in Wayne, MI

Paint correction is machine polishing that removes defects from your clear coat instead of filling them. Swirls, wash marring, oxidation and light scratches come out. What comes back is the gloss the paint had when it was new.

What we offer

Our paint correction packages

Every package ends in a quote, never a fixed price, because paint correction depends on your vehicle. Here's what changes it

  • 1 Step Correction

A single polishing step for minor imperfections: light swirl marks and light scratches. Expect 50 to 75 percent results.

    This service includes

    • Detailed wash and full paint decontamination
    • Single-stage machine polish across painted panels
    • Protective sealant applied to lock in the finish
    • Best for newer paint or a vehicle in reasonable shape

  • Full Paint Correction

For paint that needs more than two steps. Oxidation, random isolated defects, and sanding marks take extra time and a panel-by-panel approach.

    This service includes

    • Multi-stage correction tailored per panel
    • Oxidation removal and isolated defect work
    • Sanding mark correction where clear coat depth allows
    • Quoted after inspection, because condition varies widely

Why us

Come get a free test spot

You do not have to take our word for what your paint will look like. Call, text, or stop by and we will correct a single section of your vehicle at no charge so you can see the actual before and after on your own car, under our lights.

That test spot is also how we work out which tier you need. One step gets most vehicles 50 to 75 percent of the way. Two steps gets 80 to 95. Whether the last stretch is worth it depends on your paint and on you, and it is a much easier conversation standing in front of a corrected panel.

Clear coat is finite. Every correction removes a little of it, which is why we will sometimes recommend a lighter stage than you asked for. Removing most of the defects safely beats chasing the last few through your clear coat.

  • The colour comes back

Swirls scatter light in every direction, which is what makes paint look grey and flat. Remove them and the surface reflects cleanly again. Dark colours change the most.

  • It is the foundation for any coating

A ceramic coating seals in whatever is beneath it. Correcting first is the difference between locking in gloss and locking in swirls for the next three years.

  • Defects are removed, not hidden

No glazes or fillers masking the problem until the next wash. What you see at pickup is the actual corrected surface.

  • You see it before you buy it

The free test spot means you are never guessing what your paint is capable of. You will have looked at a corrected section of your own vehicle before committing.

What your quote depends on

Priced by vehicle size:Coupe · Sedan · Midsize SUV · 4 Door Truck · Large SUV · XL SUV

  • How severe the existing defects are, which is the biggest factor
  • Vehicle size, from coupe through XL SUV
  • Paint colour, since black may carry an upcharge depending on severity
  • How many correction stages your paint can safely support
  • Whether panels have been resprayed, which changes how we can work

Questions people actually ask

Paint Correction FAQ

Can I really get a free test spot?

Yes. Call or text us, or stop by the shop, and we will correct one section of your vehicle at no charge. It is the fastest way for both of us to find out what your paint will do and which tier makes sense.

Will correction remove every scratch?

No, and be sceptical of anyone who promises it will. If you can catch a fingernail in a scratch, it has gone through the clear coat and polishing cannot remove it without going through the clear coat too. Those need paint, not polish. We will show you which of your defects are correctable before we start.

Why do black vehicles cost more?

Black and very dark paint shows every defect, so the same standard of finish takes more passes to reach. Depending on severity there may be an upcharge, and we will tell you that when we quote rather than at pickup.

Is correction safe for my clear coat?

Done properly, yes. The risk comes from cutting aggressively without checking, particularly on panels that have been resprayed and are already thin. That is why we inspect first and why we will recommend a lighter tier when the paint calls for it.

Do I need a coating afterwards?

You do not have to. Every correction package includes a sealant. But corrected paint with only a sealant will swirl again from washing within months. If you want the work to hold for years, pairing it with a ceramic coating is the logical step, and we have combined packages that price the two together.
